VEx February Giveaway - Tarzan Comic Collection

In honour of Tarzan's 100th birthday, this month's giveaway is a set of three of Dark Horse Comics' reprints of Russ Manning's adaptations of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novels. These are Tarzan of the Apes, Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar, and Tarzan the Untamed, and for those who concern themselves with such things, they're all first editions dating back to the halcyon days of 1999 with covers by Mark "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs" Schultz. As an extra bonus, I'm throwing in an additional Russ Manning reprint by Dark Horse of the original story Tarzan in The Land that Time Forgot!

To enter, just leave a comment on this post that includes some method of contacting you should you win. The draw will be made at midnight on Sunday, Feb. 26th. Thank you everybody, once again, for your ongoing support of Voyages Extraordinaires: Scientific Romances in a Bygone Age!

And the winner is... Scott Conner! Check your inbox, Scott, for a message. And for the rest of you, thank you all for your ongoing support of Voyages Extraordinaires! Keep an eye out in another week for our next contest with another of Edgar Rice Burroughs' creations!

Yuss! Now this is something I would like to have. Best contact is probably e-mailing magiclandofjordan@gmail.com and I can give a postal address from that if needed.

Very cool! I've loved Tarzan ever since my father would tell me adaptions for bedtime stories. I wonder if any would pop up in those reprints...

Cheers!

And furthermore: Kreegah! Just wondering, Cory: Did Dark Horse include stuff like the Ape-to-English dictionary, along with the panel art?

I've been a Russ Manning fan ever since I could hardly wait to get my hot little 9-year-old hands on the latest issue of Magnus, Robot Fighter. (And yes, I have the hardbound reprints from DH.)

There was a back-up feature in the Magnus comics which also captured my young imagination: Captain Johner and the Aliens, a surprisingly thoughtful and well-plotted First Contact story. I'd love to see a lavish re-print of these: CJatA had a great message about working together and not judging the Other's humanity simply by outward appearance.

Hard to believe Tarzan's 100! I wrote about Burroughs as a late bloomer here: http://www.laterbloomer.com/edgar-rice-burroughs.

Love the concept of your blog! elle.b@laterbloomer.com

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring, big Tarzan fan. Just introduced my oldest son to "Tarzan of the Apes" a few months ago.
